Bank statement PDF formats

Banks export statements as PDFs that look similar on screen but differ under the hood. This page explains what this bank statement converter can read today — and what it refuses to fake.

Text-layer PDFs (supported)

Most digital downloads from online banking include a selectable text layer. You can highlight dates and amounts in a PDF reader. We extract that text in the browser with pdf.js, then rebuild rows and a running balance for reconcile.

Scanned / image-only (not yet)

Phone photos, faxed statements, or “print to PDF” from a scan often have no text layer. Selecting text fails. This site shows an honest failure instead of inventing transactions. Cloud OCR is planned later, labeled, and will share the same page quota.

Why reconcile matters

A pretty CSV that does not tie opening → closing is worse than a missing export. We surface Balanced / Off-by and let you jump to mismatch rows before you import into QuickBooks or Sheets.
